The traditional "Aojima(blue stripe)" is attractive.
It is a medium weight fabric similar to oxford.
Pants, bags, etc. are finished in good shape.

  • The cotton material is moderately flexible and has moisture absorption, making it comfortable to wear.
It has a feeling of falling, so it is recommended for interior decoration such as noren curtains and tapestries.
  • This natural striped pattern "Aojima" has been loved for a long time.

Well, why does it look like stripe?
It is related to both the method of weaving after dyeing the thread and the characteristics of indigo.

Hataki dyeing

The method of dyeing the thread, called “Kase-zome”, repeats dyeing and untangling by hand.

And indigo dye is a dye that develops a blue color when exposed to air and oxidized.

Therefore, the degree of dyeing, the amount of time it is exposed to the air, and the coincidence of the handwork combine to create a yarn with an uneven look that is once-in-a-lifetime.

You may not be able to see the degree of dyeing in the state of the thread, but when you try to weave it, you can see a natural striped pattern with dark and light colors lined up randomly.

  • Asagi (Light blue)
    Beautiful colors with natural stripes.
  • Kon (Deep blue)
It is a deep color that is dyed darkly to the core of the thread.
  • Cotton fabric will shrink slightly when washed.
    Both colors will gradually fade.
    We recommend washing before sewing.
The material is firm yet soft and comfortable to wear.
The color goes well with Kasuri and old cloth.
Recommended for handmade pants, bags, Samues, and Hanten jacket.
