We, Kojima Senshoku Kogyo Co., Ltd., have been engaged in "dyeing" and "weaving" for 150 years since our founding in 1872 by Kojima Kumahei.
We are making original fabrics that are not found anywhere else, using methods that incorporate new techniques while making the most of that tradition.
We deliver wonderful fabrics that are easy to tailor, add depth to your work, and feel the Japanese atmosphere.

Beginning with the handiwork of a farmer's housewife
Our company was founded from the Edo to Meiji period when housewives of farmers produced indigo-dyed textiles as a side business during the off-season. At the time of its founding, the company mainly produced narrow yarn-dyed fabrics used for cropping for agricultural work.
Bushu indigo dyed fabrics have a very fine striped pattern, which is why they are called “Aojima” and loved by many people.
The roots of KOJIMAYA FABRIC are the handiwork of housewives who made fabrics and clothes for their families. I would like to cherish the craftsmanship that feels the quality and warmth of handwork without sparing time and effort.

Indigo-dyed fabric was once used as a material for noragi. Due to its durability and comfort, and its good color, it is still loved in traditional clothing such as kendo wear, hakama, tabi, and festival wear.
Wear it, wash it, use it, and the color and texture will gradually change, giving it an indescribable taste.
One of the reasons for its taste is the skein dyeing.
The deep color dyed to the core of the thread and the unevenness and looseness of the surface of the thread combine to create a complex look. The fabric woven from this thread looks plain at first glance, but it has a very fine pattern.
It is also very important to wash it to create a mature vintage atmosphere. The fluffy softness of the fabric is brought out and the color is subdued.
For those who use indigo dyeing for the first time
Indigo dye will lose color. I think you may be worried about hearing that.
There are some things that you need to be careful about, but the more you use it and wash it, the more you will come to like the taste that comes out. If you can enjoy the texture I'm happy.
■Color transfers when rubbed. Don't wear it with white or light-colored clothes, but feel safe with denim or dark-colored outfits.
■Colors tend to fade when wet. Avoid contact with other objects after rain, humidity, or after washing.
■ Wash separately. Please use a neutral detergent.
